Payment

Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept PacificSource, Samaritan, Providence, Aetna, all Optum Behavioral Health plans, United Health and UMR, and Providence PPO (through 12/31/22). Please verify your co-pay or coinsurance and in-network deductibles for behavioral health benefits prior to first appointment.

For all others, I’m happy to help you utilize your Out-of-Network benefits. Please contact your insurance company to verify your OON benefits if you are interested in billing insurance. Some insurance companies will allow me to do direct billing, which means less up front out of pocket costs for you. If they do not allow provider billing, you will be required to pay at each session, will be provided a bill, that can then be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.

If engaging in telehealth services, you may not be able to bill your insurance and should confirm benefits before engaging in treatment. Some plans may also provide cost-sharing, cancelling any copay for you.

What are your fees?

My private pay rates are $135 for 45-minute sessions and $170 for 60-minute sessions. A one time evaluation fee for initial appointment is $185. Based on availability, I do offer sliding scale slots for private pay clients and cash pay discounts. If you are in need of financial consideration, please discuss your needs in your phone consultation.

Do you take credit cards?

I accept credit, debit, and HSA cards. I use Ivy Pay for processing, which will have you input your card number after a text prompt. We will do this at your first session. I accept checks and cash, as well. If a check is returned, you will be responsible for resulting fees and will need to pay using cash or card in the future.

Diagnosis

What is a diagnosis and why might I need one?

In order to begin treatment, assessment will be done in the first couple sessions to identify what your concerns and goals for treatment are. If you are utilizing insurance, a diagnosis is required for payment. Common diagnoses include those for adjustment, substance use disorder, depression, panic, and PTSD. I will review any possible diagnoses with you, as a part of treatment.

What can you help me with?

I specialize in perinatal mood disorders (prenatal and postpartum depression, anxiety, and trauma), anxiety, grief/loss (including caregiver support around dementia/alzheimer’s), substance use disorders, and depression. I have training in treating trauma, and may be helpful in addressing trauma in your life, especially as it relates to substance use, birth trauma, and if you are a Veteran. I encourage holistic approaches to mind and body health and will recommend additional service providers to effectively implement this approach.

Treatment

Do you see couples?

I have received training and supervision specific to working with individuals. I encourage family and peer support to aid in change throughout treatment, and those supports are welcome to engage in sessions as deemed necessary. I also help with parent coaching in support of maternal mental health. I am not a “couples counselor” and will provide referral for specific couples therapy when applicable.

Where will I meet with you?

I am available to see clients at my office, currently outdoors, and online. I utilize an encrypted telehealth program through SimplePractice for online treatment. Walk+Talk therapy is available, with starting location for walks being at my office. We will walk to and through Armitage Park for these sessions.

What should I expect to get from therapy?

Your experience in treatment is largely dependent on why you are coming to therapy. You can expect that I will ask questions about your life, listen to your pain and joy, set goals based on what you want for your life, and continue to assess your achievement of goals throughout therapy. I will provide you with skills and knowledge as they pertain to your goals. The most important part of therapy is that you feel connected, so you should expect to feel heard, accepted, and not judged throughout our sessions. If you are not feeling connected, I encourage you to discuss this with me. That may seem impossibly hard for some, and I get that, too. I will try to check in regarding this connection, as well, to support building trust in our relationship. I encourage authenticity!
